Atlantic Quest 2005

The young men returned to Frasier Preserve in 2005 and enjoyed another summer weekend while they constructed a new building for the facility. This quest focused on teamwork exercises with some unique and unexpected twists.

Instructors from Gallaudet University joined us in Quest 2005 as the men prepared for a possible natural disaster, and the young men got a chance to discover ways to communicate and work together without speaking. Young men scaled a 60 foot climbing tower, built a 20' by 12' structure, and participated in several challenging group exercises.

The culminating construction project provided the opportunity to participate in a "Ready To Serve Line", a very practical alpha leadership tool that helps focus participants on what it really means to be prepared to serve others. It also created situations where young men got a chance to lead teams of men much older than themselves and learned that the had the "right stuff" and their peers and elders would not only listen, but accept their leadership.

The new building is now an all-weather activity center used by Calvary Baptist Church in their programs, and will be put to good use in future quests.
